The Inner Vision explained the idea of how sea animals communicate with sonar and that they can visualize wavelength, which was astonishing to find. I knew that whales have the ability to communicate with unique voices or sounds over a long distance, but I did not consider how whales transferred voices in the sea. Studying different hearing abilities is a new experience for me.

I want to study dolphins for my research topic. I am interested in learning how dolphins communicate and interact with group activities. From the previous study, I developed a curiosity about animal intelligence and behavior studies, so I plan to do more research on how dolphins interact with each other and see if their behaviors are distinct from whales and other sea animals.

From this week's reading, I learned about whales and dolphins and their abilities. I found a suggested article called "dolphins and social intelligence," and I believe it will provide some information that will help my research topics. Many scientists are researching sea animals, including Ken Balcomb and Peter Tyack, who study whales and vocal learning in mammals. Safina was written by Ken Balcomb, a beneficial resource for my topic on dolphin intelligence and their social networking. The keywords I plan to do further research on are sonar blasts, dolphin intelligence, and animal behavior. I used Twitter and Google Scholar for my study and found more information on dolphin behaviors. The best source is Safina which was our reading assignment. The book is beneficial, and it has already done lots of studies on sea animals.

Hi Yuechen! I read the "Killer Wails" chapter by Carl Safina which had some great information on dolphins and whales. This chapter discussed the behaviors, communication methods, and social groups of whales and dolphins, which could be helpful for your Literature Review research. I am wondering though, how exactly do whales transfer their voices over such long distances?
