This infographic is from my study of the solutions to dolphins' current problem.
From this week's SMC study, I have a clearer idea of the problems, solutions, and what are things I can do to help. The problems dolphins face include overfishing and pollution. Overfishing is a big problem that many marine animals face because net can trap their bodies, and overfishing can reduce their food consumption. When dolphins are trapped in the net, they can not escape, so they can die by choking. The possible solutions to this problem include using new technologies to ensure dolphins stay away from the net and the government enforcing the number of fish the fisherman can catch. The second biggest problem is pollution. Pollution can vary based on three major factors. The first one is plastic. Plastic can look like animals that dolphins might eat accidentally, and plastic strings can trap dolphins like nets. The second factor is sound pollution. Different sounds the ship makes can cause hearing problems among dolphins. To solve these two factors, the government published other acts to reduce shipping and divers clean the garbage in the ocean even if their lives are in danger. The third factor is dumping from factories that pollute the water. This action causes a severe effect on marine lives, not only dolphins.
I believe I will do a better job relating to historical studies and ideas regarding the three videos. These videos all compared humans and other animals to find out the reason behind consuming meat and whether or not animals have rights. Ethos, pathos, and logos are three things that I will also focus on using correctly.
