Among the exercises I did previously, the assignments that helped me the most involved reading and watching videos. From watching the video from the TED talk, I started with my idea of researching dolphins, which have been proven to be one of the most intelligent animals. I then did some research on the standard test that figured out animal intelligence and communication ability. Dolphins have been proven to have their language, and they are highly social animals. More factors have been stated in Safina's writing from "Killing Whales." These different sections provide me with many options for other fields of study. I then developed my interest in studying their collaborating behaviors and individuality. I believe an individual animal should have a unique identity to be considered intelligent. The final part that helped me write is having the big three resources analyzed before I wrote the body paragraphs. I can make connection ahead of time and make my essay meaningful.
I am not so confident about my essay since I find difficulties at first organizing all my pieces together. I struggled with the resources and doubted myself for choosing dolphins to study with. I believe I met the requirement of 6 resources which is good. I tried to explain my points as clearly as possible, but I am worried about being wordy. I still need to work on the format and transitions between paragraphs. I know that I sometimes have a hard time making my essay structure in a good way.
For SMC, I plan to focus on the problem of overfishing and pollution, which are two big topics I found when I was browsing through Twitter and other online resources.
